Man Released Without Charge Over Murder Of Aoife Phelan

A man has been released without charge, after being questioned in relation to the disappearance of Co Laois woman Aoife Phelan.

A Garda spokesman said a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The search for the 30-year-old nanny is to resume today.

The search will focus on a section of the River Barrow near the Kildare-Laois border. 

Ms Phelan, who was four months pregnant was last seen on 25th October.

Gardai believe she has been murdered.

Man Charged With Aoife Phelan Murder
A 24 year old man charged with the murder of Aoife Phelan is to receive psychiatric treatment behind bars. Robert Corbet, with an address of Sheffield, Portlaoise, was charged with killing the nanny on 25th October. Mr Corbet has been remanded in custody and is to appear at the district court in Portlaoise on 15th November.

Man Re-Arrested Following Disappearance Of Aoife Phelan
A man has been arrested again in relation to the disappearance of Aoife Phelan in County Laois. It is believed the 24-year-old male is being questioned at Portlaoise Garda Station. Gardai discovered a female body yesterday during a search at a house on the Timahoe Road. A post mortem is due to be carried put.

Aoife Phelan Murder Accused Granted Legal Aid
A lorry driver accused of the murder of Aoife Phelan in Co Laois last month has been granted free legal aid after a court heard that his haulage business is being wound up. 24-year-old Robert Corbet, of Sheffield Cross, Timahoe Road, Portlaoise, Co Laois had shook his head and said “no” when he was charged last week.

Gardai Issue Renewed Appeal For Missing Aoife Phelan
Gardai in Portlaoise are renewing their appeal for public assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 30 year old Aoife Phelan. Aoife, who is a native of Cashel, Ballyroan, Portlaoise, met a friend at the Borris Road Roundabout in Portlaoise at about 6.30pm on the 25th October and was last seen at 8.

Vicky Phelan To Take A Break From Campaigning
Vicky Phelan has confirmed she will be taking a break from campaigning on the Cervical Check scandal. Ms Phelan said that she was "deeply disturbed" by some people and their attitude towards some of the affected women. She is to meet with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to discuss the issue today, 01 August.
