Man Sentenced To Life For Dublin Murder

A Wicklow man has been jailed for life for the gangland murder of a father of two.

Garrett O'Brien from Bray was found guilty of the murder of Seamus O'Byrne, 27, in Dublin on 13th March 2009.

He was shot five times outside his home at Tymon Park North, Tallaght.

His partner and baby son were also at the scene at the time of the attack.

O'Brien had 29 previous convictions the court heard.

It is understood that officers investigating the murder of Kenneth O'Brien – the man who's body was found dismembered and inside a suitcase in the Grand Canal – made the discovery. However, Garda added that the drugs are not connected to Mr O'Brien's death.

Waterford Bus Driver Found Not Guilty Of Wife's Murder
A Waterford bus driver has been found not guilty of the murder of his wife in 2006. John O'Brien, 41, of Ballinakill Downs, denied murdering 35-year-old Meg Walsh. Her body was discovered in the River Suir two weeks after she was reported missing on October 1, 2006. The mother of one died as a result of blunt-trauma to the head.
