Man And Woman Held Over Heroin Seizure

A male and female are being questioned after €20,000 worth of heroin was seized from their car in Cork in the early hours this morning.

The Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad stopped the car near the Dunkettle roundabout at around 1am.

The pair are believed to have been returning from Dublin.

They are currently being questioned at Mayfield Garda Station.

Man Arrested Following Fatal Crash In Kilkenny
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road crash in Co Kilkenny. A man died in the collision, which happened at around 1am on the westbound carriage of the N24 Piltown bypass. The second car involved failed to remain at the scene. A 53-year-old man is currently being detained at Thomastown Garda Station.

Witnesses Sought Following Fatal Road Accident In Co Louth
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road accident in Collon, Co Louth. The single vehicle road accident happened at about 1am on Tuesday morning close to Brannigan's Cross on the Collon to Tinure Road. A 32-year-old man, the sole occupant of the car, suffered serious injuries when his car left the road and struck a ditch.

Suspect Released Following Drugs Raid
Heroin, cannabis and amphetamine worth an estimated €40,000 has been seized by gardaí during a search of a house in Thurles. Two arrests were made during the search, a woman in her 20s, who has since been released, and a man in his 30s, who remains in custody.

Mother Convicted On Firearms Charges
A Dutch mother of three has been jailed for the possession of firearms. The woman, Caroline Van Dongeren, 32, was given a three-year sentence after a search at her home uncovered two magazines each containing 10 rounds of ammunition.
