Mother From Cork Charged With Murdering Son

A mother from charged with killing her eight-year-old son, Anthony, has been sent forward for trial.

Diana Ward, 42, of Harrison Place, is accused of murdering Anthony at their family hone on 3rd September 2012.

A post mortem confirmed Anthony died from asphyxiation.

A book was evidence was served at Limerick District Court this morning by Superintendent Pat McCarthy.

Ms Ward appeared before the court via video link.

She has 14 days to give to the State the contact details of any defence witnesses.

She was remanded in custody and is to appear before trial at the present sittings of the Central Criminal Court.

State Case Concludes In Nightclub Bouncer Murder Trial
Dublin's Central Criminal Court has now finished hearing the prosecution case against four men accused of the murder of a Limerick nightclub security man. The trial entered legal argument this afternoon and will continue tomorrow before Mr Justice Peter Charleton ant the jury of 12 men at the Central Criminal Court sitting at Cloverhill.

Men Held Over Dublin Airport Cash Seizure
Revenue officers have seized more than €63,000 in two separate operations at Dublin Airport. Officers stopped and searched two Romanian men following routine profiling. The men were travelling separately; however, both were boarding the same early morning flight to Budapest at 6am on Monday, 15 May.

Anthony Ward Died From Asphyxia
Preliminary results of a post mortem examination on the body of eight-year-old Anthony Ward revealed he died from asphyxia. He was found dead in the bedroom of his home at Harrison Place in Charleville, Cork, yesterday morning. Gardai do not believe he died of natural causes and are continuing their examination of the house where he was found.

Trial Of Nicola Furlong Opens
The man accused of murdering Irish exchange student, Nicola Furlong, has said he "had no intent, motive or reason to hurt, harm or kill" her. Richard Hinds, 20, denied the murder on the first day of the trial in Tokyo today. Ms Furlong was found dead in the Keio Plaza hotel on 24th May last year.
