Eight In Hospital Following Clare Chemical Spill
Eight people are being treated in hospital following a chemical spill in County Clare.
The affected are being cared for at Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation into the incident at the Chemifloc plant in Shannon on 20 December.
Fire services have confirmed a chemical reaction caused a gas emission to occur.
The incident occurred when a batch of bleach was being loaded at the plant.
Seven workers were kept overnight in hospital.
An eighth person was admitted at the Emergency Department in the early hours December 21.
Those affected by the spill were decontaminated by fire personnel outside the hospital before they were admitted.
No one is believed to be seriously injured.
The Environmental Protection Agency has launched its own investigation into the case.

A bone was found on Thursday, 22 September, on the Shannon riverbank at Doonass, Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border. Gardaí were called to the scene and are understood to have examined and photographed the scene before the bone was removed.

Second Chemical Spill At Cork Plant
Fire fighters have been called to an industrial estate in County Cork following a chemical spill. The explosion, which happened at the Corden Pharmachem plant in Little Island, Co Cork, was the second incident at the plant this week. A chemical spill had occurred in a drum storage area on Sunday.

Several significant changes have been made to the outline of the Bill, which was published in April. The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.

Investigation Launched After Teen Shot In Limerick
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a teenager was shot in Limerick on Thursday morning. The 17-year-old was shot in the thigh on the Upper Carey's Road at around 10.40am, according to gardaí. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made.
