Climber Dies On Mount Kilimanjaro
Climber and adventurer Ian McKeever has died on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
It is thought the 42-year-old was struck by lightning after the group of climbers he was leading were caught in a storm three days into their expedition.
It is understood Mr McKeever's fiancée, Anna, was injured.
Mr McKeever was a well-known figure in adventure sports and has attempted several world records, including the Seven Summits Challenge in 2007.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is offering assistance from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Ireland is to accept refugees from Tanzania under a UN programme. According to reports on Thursday the Tanzania refugees, who are expected to arrive in Ireland in coming months, will be resettled in a town selected by the Office of Integration after detailed local consultation.

Vernon Mount House Fire Being Treated As Suspicious
Garda investigating a fire at Vernon Mount House in Cork are treating the blaze as suspicious. Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at the historic building at about 10.00pm on Sunday night. Eight fire brigade units spent almost 10 hours tackling the blaze at the house.

Finglas Death - Men Released Without Charge
Two men arrested over the death of a 29-year-old man in Finglas have been released without charge. The men were detained by Gardaí investigating the discovery of a body at Spring Mount Apartments, Wellmount Road in Finglas. The men, both aged in their 20s, were arrested on the evening of 11 January in Finglas.

AGSI Warn Garda Pay Cuts Are 'Off The Table'
Garda may mount protest in opposition to any cuts in pay or allowances, the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) has warned. Commenting on the ongoing talks on the details on the Croke Park Agreement, the AGSI said that “as far as it's concerned” changes or reductions to allowances and other payments are off the table.
