O'Connell Street Re-Opens Following Collision

O'Connell Street has re-opened following an earlier collision involving a car and a Luas.

The Luas and Ford Focus crashed at the junction of Abbey Street and O'Connell Street in Dublin at around 10am this morning.

Five people have been taken to hospital as a precaution, however none are believed to have serious injuries.

Gardai and Emergency Services remain at the scene.

Tram Driver Trial Begins
The trial of a Luas driver, charged with crashing his tram into a bus on O’Connell Street, has started today. 39-year-old Oriyomi Emmanuel of Jamestown Park, Ratoath, Co Meath, has pleaded not guilty under the Railway Safety Act to the unsafe operation of a tram at the junction of Middle Abbey Street and O’Connell Street on September 16th, 2009.

Thousands Join Pro-Choice Rally In Dublin City Centre
A pro-choice rally in O'Connell Street in Dublin has been attended by around 2,000 people. The demonstration was arranged to protest Ireland's current abortion laws, with banners that read: "repeal the 8th" and "I am not a vessel".

Garda Appeal For Information On Street Robbery In Dublin
Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal for information following a robbery on Mount Street Upper earlier this week. On 13 August 2018 at approximately 6.50pm a man, aged in his 50s, got out of his car on Mount Street Upper and walked towards the junction of Mount Street and Fitzwilliam Street Lower junction.

Eight Food Firms Closed Over Food Safety Breaches
Eight food firms have been closed in April for breaches of food safety legislation. According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), the closures were issued by health safety officers in the Health Service Executive (HSE).

Dept For Arts To 'Carefully Study' High Street Judgement On Moore Street
The Department for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht have said that they will "carefully study" the High Court judgement on Moore Street. Minister Heather Humphreys said: "This was a complex case and the judgement, which runs to more than 400 pages, needs to be studied in detail.
