Two Men Held Over Suspicious Device In Co Clare

Two men have been arrested after a car was stopped and searched at Ballyblood yesterday afternoon, and garda discovered drug paraphernalia and cartridges.

The men, aged 17 and 22, are currently being detained at Killaloe Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

During follow up searches, a viable explosive device was made safe in a house in Tulla, Co Clare last night.

The area was cordoned off by gardai and local residents were evacuated at around 11pm.

The scene was declared safe at 11.50pm and the remains of the device have been given to Gardai as they carry on with their investigations.

Two Men Arrested Following Cannabis Find
Two men have been arrested after Gardai seized an estimated €700,000 worth of cannabis plants in Virginia, Co Cavan. Detectives searched a warehouse in a planned operation this morning and found a major cultivation operation with an estimated 800 cannabis plants. The two males are being questioned in Bailieborough Garda station.

Explosive Device Made Safe In Dublin
An explosive device was made safe by the Army early on Tuesday morning in Dublin. A bomb disposal team arrived at Cushlawn Park, Tallaght, at 2.35am to deal with the object outside a private home. Local people were evacuated, and the scene was declared safe at 3.20am.
