Man In Court Over Thomond Park Banana Incident
A man has appeared in court in Limerick charged in connection with an incident at Thomond Park stadium, when a banana was thrown at international French defender Gael Clichy.
There was international public outrage after the Manchester City player tweeted about the incident following the glamour tie between the Premier League champions and Limerick City in last August.
Kelvin Reynolds, 20, of Pinewood Avenue, Caherdavin, Limerick, appeared on two charges arising out of the alleged incident at Limerick District Court
The 20-year-old is charged with engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace on 5 August last.
He is also charged with assaulting Sargeant Caimin Treacy contrary to Section 2 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act, on the same date.
Solicitor Sarah Ryan was assigned to represent Reynolds who was granted free legal aid.
Judge Eugene O'Kelly adjourned the case until April 10th next.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Man Charged Over Limerick Shooting
A man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident in Limerick that led to the death of a local man. Gardai investigating the fatal shooting, which occurred last Tuesday evening, said today they have charged Kenneth Collopy of Kilonan, Ballysimon, Co Limerick, over the incident.

Teenager Remanded Over Limerick Shooting
An 18-year-old has appeared in court in Limerick charged in connection with a shooting incident last week. Liam Kelly, from Distillery View, Thomondgate, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Body Confirmed As Missing Galway Man
Gardaí have confirmed they have found the body of missing Galway man Adrian Folan. Mr Folan had been missing since last Thursday, when he was last seen in Athlone. Gardaí say that a body found in a disused quarry near the village of Liscannor in north Clare is that of Mr Folan, and that the death is being treated as suspicious.

Man Arrested Over Double Knife In Limerick
A man has appeared in court charged in connection with a double stabbing incident in Co Limerick. Two men in their 30s suffered serious knife wounds to their faces in an assault in Newcastle West over the August bank holiday weekend. Today, 23-year-old Stephen Daly appeared before Limerick District Court today in connection with the incident.
