HIQA Finds 'No Evidence' Of Discussion About DNR Notices
A new report has revealed that “do not resuscitate” notices were discovered in the files of some residents at the private Mullross Nursing Home in Kilclare, Co Leitrim.
According to the report there is no evidence that the notices had been discussed with residents of the care home, their relatives, or the multidisciplinary team.
Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) inspections in December and earlier in January found no evidence that any communication had occurred with regard to resuscitation orders to ensure the residents had been involved in the decision.
The final HIQA report, published today and saying the system in place at Mullross increased the risk of medical errors occurring, led to the HSE taking control of the facility.
The facility, which could accommodate 30 residents and employed 32 staff, has now closed and all patients have been moved.
