Dr Gulity Of Serious Misconduct After Records Dumped On Waste Ground
A doctor has been found guilty of serious professional misconduct following the discovery of highly sensitive medical records of nearly 300 patients dumped near his former home.
Dr Ogbonna Anoke, who worked in Cavan-Monaghan Hospital between January and September 2010 as a non-consultant hospital doctor, faced charges of misconduct at a fitness-to-practise hearing of the Irish Medical Council.
The council found him guilty of taking sensitive clinical material from the hospital to his home, failing to dispose of the material adequately and leaving the material at the premises after moving house.
It is understood that 12 black bags containing “official looking documents” were found on waste ground near Station Lane, Swellan, Co. Cavan, by the chairwoman of the local resident’s committee.
The council have yet to decide what sanctions to take against the doctor.

Several significant changes have been made to the outline of the Bill, which was published in April. The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.

Pensioner Dies In House Fire In Letterkenny
A pensioner has died in a house fire in Letterkenny, County Donegal. Emergency services were called to the cottage in Glenkeogh at approximately 9.30pm last night. A local doctor pronounced the 69-year-old dead at the scene and a coroner has been notified. An investigation is currently being carried out.
