Disabled Friendly Swimming Pool To Close On Weekends
A specially adapted disability friendly swimming will no longer be open to disabled children on weekends.
St Michael’s House swimming pool at Belcamp in north Dublin has hoists, ramps and wheelchair-accessible changing rooms and is used by young people with physical and intellectual disabilities.
A number of families of disabled children help raise funds for the construction of the pool, by selling raffle tickets and via direct debit contributions, where given just a weeks notice that it would be closed to their disabled children on Saturdays.
It is understood that pool will open for other commercial groups, which it will charge to use their facility.
The organisation says the move will generate income and help fund the pool’s use for service users with disabilities on weekdays.
