Pair Found Shot Dead In Carlow Identified

Garda have identified, but will not yet name, a man and woman found shot dead in a B&B in Carlow town yesterday.

The names are being withheld until after a post mortem examination is carried out.

It is understood the man was 54-year-old and from Co. Offaly, and the woman, 51, was a mother of six, including triplets.

They had spent some time in Wexford last week before arriving in Carlow and it is thought they had been socialising in a number of pubs in the town and had stayed in different accommodation in Carlow before moving to the Stonehaven B&B.

A shotgun was found on the premises on Centaur Street.

Garda are investigating the circumstances of the shooting they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
