Man Admits Manslaughter Of Journalist

A 21-year-old Dublin man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of journalist Eugene Moloney last year.

Gary Burch of Kennington Close, Templeogue, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the unlawful killing of Mr Moloney on Camden Street on 24 June 2012.

Mary Rose Gearty SC, prosecuting, asked for the case to be adjourned for a number of weeks to allow for her client to complete a Fás course he is currently attending, arguing that Burch has no previous convictions and had voluntarily spent time in custody.

Pieter Le Vert, prosecuting, said gardaí had no objection to Burch remaining on bail.

Judge Ring ordered a victim impact report and adjourned sentencing to June 24th next.
