Jury Hears Phone Call Made By Paul Byrne As Wife Stabs Him To Death

A jury today heard a 999 phone call made by the late Paul Byrne, crying for help as his wife stabbed him to death.

The engineer, 48, told the operator, "My wife is stabbing me", "She is trying to kill me".

Mr Byrne was stabbed over 60 times by Tanya Doyle at their home in Pairc Gleann Trasna, Aylesbury, on 4th September 2009.

She admits the killing, however she denies murder.

State Still Waiting For New Schools To Built From 2013
Fianna Fáil has criticised the Government over its "failure to get to grips with its own annual plans for the construction of new schools across Ireland over the last five years". 'Work Best Way Out Of Poverty' - ESRI Report
'Work is the best way out of poverty', Fine Gael has said, a statement it claims has been confirmed by the latest ESRI report. Making the comments Dublin South Central TD, Catherine Byrne, said that the report highlights that more must be done to incentivise and support people into work.

Govt Considering Legislation To Take Water Charge From Wages
The government is considering introducing legislation to allow for the recovery of unpaid water charges directly from people's wages. It is understood that the legislation would seek to make a distinction between those who cannot pay and those who will not pay.
