Christian Brother Denies Sexual Abuse Charges

A former Christian Brother and retired teacher has pleaded not guilty at Galway Circuit Criminal Court to six charges of indecent assault.

The 73-year-old is charged with the sexual abuse of a young boy at St Joseph's Industrial School in Letterfrack between 30 August 1965 and 4 April 1967.

The trial is expected to last two to three days and several garda witnesses from the Letterfrack and Clifden areas are due to give evidence.

Hanlon Killer To Face Sex Abuse Charges
The body of an Irishman shot dead in the US last month is expected to return home to the country today, as his killer faces separate sex abuse charges. Andrew Hanlon, from Dublin, was shot at least seven times by 35-five-year old Tony Gonzalez after the police officer responded to reports of a burglary in Silverton, Oregon on June 30.

Man Extradited From US To Dublin
Gardaí have confirmed a 33-year-old man has been extradited from the United States to Ireland to in connection with alleged sexual abuse. It is understood he faces charges of alleged sexual abuse against two underage girls in Ireland between 2010 and 2011. He arrived in Dublin on Wednesday morning (23 July) before later appearing in court.

Priest Flees California Ahead Of Sexual Abuse Lawsuit
An Irish priest in Stockton, California, found liable in a civil case alleging sexual abuse and scheduled to testify in the sex-abuse lawsuit yesterday, is believed to have fled the country and returned to Ireland.
