Woman Granted Week To Repay €43,000 Dole Fraud
A woman who pleaded guilty to fraudulently claiming dole payments of more than €43,000 has been granted a week to repay all the money involved.
33-year-old Sibyl Montague appeared before Cork District Court as Judge Leo Malone was told that, if he agreed to adjourn the matter for seven days, the entire sum involved would be repaid.
Arrested last Thursday, Montague, of Cois Coillte, Tivoli, Cork, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges brought following an investigation into the claiming of jobseekers' allowance payments.
The total amount referred to across the 17 charges is €43,669.72. Most of the money has already been repaid.

Man Arrested Following Fatal Crash In Kilkenny
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road crash in Co Kilkenny. A man died in the collision, which happened at around 1am on the westbound carriage of the N24 Piltown bypass. The second car involved failed to remain at the scene. A 53-year-old man is currently being detained at Thomastown Garda Station.

Deputy O'Sullivan made the call while speaking in a Dáil debate on mental health, where she said that €12m taken from the mental health budget this year, could not be allowed to fall into "the black hole of the general Health budget".

61-Year-Old Convicted Over Money Lending And Tax Evasion
Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) have welcomed the sentence handed down to 61-year-old Geoffrey Beggs at Antrim Crown Court on Tuesday 20 September. The 61-year-old was sentenced to 20 months suspended for two years for money lending; and 12 months suspended for two years for tax evasion.
