Limerick Hospital Asks Public Not To Attend A&E
Due to a surge in attendances Limerick’s Mid Western Regional Hospital has appealed to the public not to attend its emergency department unless absolutely necessary.
A total of 45 patients were seeking help at the hospital's emergency department on Friday morning.
Extra ward rounds have been put in place and extra beds are being deployed to try and clear the backlog in the emergency department, the Health Service Executive have said.
It is unclear why the number of admissions has increased.
The public has been asked not to attend the emergency department unless it is a genuine emergency, and to attend their GPs, who have also been alerted to the situation.
