Ballina Cash And Carry Blaze Still Going

Firefighters in Ballina, Co Mayo, are still tackling a blaze at a cash and carry outlet in the town.

It is understood that extensive damager has already been caused and that roads were closed as a result of heavy smoke in the area.

Residents in the town have been urged to keep their doors and windows closed until smoke from the blaze clears fully.

The fire at Tuffy's Cash and Carry at Bohernasup, near the town centre, broke out around midnight.

Couple Killed In Caravan Blaze
Two people have died following a fire in a mobile home in County Galway. It is not yet known if the fire, which broke out about at 2.00am on Wednesday, was started deliberately. A gardai spokesperson said the bodies of a man and a woman, believed to be a married couple, were found at Poolboy in Ballinasloe.

Firefighters Die In Wicklow Explosion
Two firefighters have been killed and another injured in an explosion in Bray, Co Wickow. A massive blaze broke out in a disused factory on Lower Dargle Road at around 10.30am this morning. It is believed the two men died when the roof collapsed as they were tackling the fire.

Drugs Worth €900,000 Seized In Athy
A man has been arrested after €900,000 worth of drugs were seized by garda in Athy. The operation, on a growhouse in the area, is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The man is being questioned at Kildare Town Garda Station.

A three month trial of a new one-way traffic system is underway in Arklow, in an effort to rejuvenate the town's shopping areas. It is understood that the move has been introduced by Arklow town council following a number of business closures.

Up To 300 New Jobs Created At Dundrum
The creation of over 300 new full and part time jobs has been announced by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation at a news briefing at Dundrum Town Centre. The announcement will bring the employee population of Dundrum Town Centre to almost 6,000, the equivalent of Monaghan town.
