Garda Identify Masked Armed Gang In Facebook Pictures
The identities of masked men pictured brandishing guns and axes have been uncovered, and those involved will face prosecution, according to the Irish Independent.
It is understood that images were uploaded to Facebook via a mobile phone, the owner of which has allegedly been identified.
The images claim to show members of the ‘Fort Hill drugs gang, with several men holding guns and axes.
The newspaper reports that gardai have contacted Facebook as part of the investigation into the Sligo-based gang and detectives know the identities of all those involved and have seized several weapons.
"The pictures were part of an attempt by certain elements in the Forthill area of Sligo to intimidate the community," a source allegedly to the paper.
"Ironically, the pictures could end up putting those same gang members behind bars. It shows how incredibly stupid some of them really are."
