Commemorative Joyce Coin Adds Word To Quote

A special commemorative silver €10 coin, on sale from today for €46, has been found to contain an embarrassing error.

The coin, produced by the Central Bank, honours the writer James Joyce and it features his portrait on its face.

However, the coin also features a misquotes of famous line from his masterwork Ulysses, inserting a word that is not in the original text.

The quote is taken from the beginning of chapter three of Ulysses, and reads: "Ineluctable modality of the visible: at least that if no more, thought through my eyes. Signatures of all things I am here to read."

The Central Bank coin has added an additional "that" into the second sentence.

The Central Bank has limited the minting of the coin to a maximum 10,000 units and it is on sale at the bank's Dame Street headquarters.
