Union Raise Concerns Over Pupil Teacher Ratio
Government plans to increase the pupil-teacher ratio will result in the loss of courses at colleges of further education, the Teachers' Union of Ireland has said.
Deputy Principal of Ballyfermot College Kevin Devine told RTÉ's Morning Ireland, that the loss of specialist staff will result in fewer courses being offered at such colleges.
Adding that, "some courses will have to be cancelled and, therefore, it will mean fewer places for students, with a knock-on effect for the following year".
It is expected that a protest about the proposals will take place today at Leinster House.
