Man Shot Dead In Dublin
A man in his 40s has been shot dead in Dublin.
The shooting happened at the Greenogue Industrial Estate, Rathcoole, at around 9.30am.
The man, who sustained gunshot wounds, was taken to Tallaght Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
The area has currently been sealed off.
Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Trevor Gilligan said: "This attack in broad daylight is yet another terrible example of just how brazen criminal thugs have become and just how vulnerable our local communities feel at this time.
"What more evidence does the Government need to realise that this is not the time to dismantle community policing, cutback on garda resources and completely undermine our local gardaí? People are genuinely fearful about the alarming increase in dissident activity, gang crime, violent crime and burglaries in Dublin and commuter areas. Gardaí are under more pressure than ever before, and they need to be supported in keeping our streets safe.
"I want to commend the local gardaí for their swift response to this awful incident this morning. It must be condemned in the strongest terms and gardaí must be given every support possible to ensure that these criminals are brought to justice."
