'Significant Progress' Made In New Croke Park Talks

Renewed talks to find a successor to the Croke Park agreement will begin again this afternoon (Monday).

According to RTÉ significant progress was reported to have been achieved when they adjourned at 04:30 on Monday morning.

It is understood that the three year freeze for those earning between €65,000 and €100,000 proposed in the failed Croke Park II has been revised to now see them receive increments at 18-month intervals.

Alongside this, pay they would lose between 2013 and 2015, would be repaid in 2017 and 2018, in two lump sums.

Under newly revised proposals for garda, officers would work three extra days a year, cuts to premium payments have been scaled back and the voluntary overtime rate would be reduced from time-and-a-half to time-and-a-quarter.

It is understood an agreement in principal was reached with garda representatives on the new proposals.

Health sector representatives were the only group left when the talks ended. They begin again today at 14:00.
