Courts To Hold September Sessions To Tackle Backlog
Extra sessions are to be held in the State’s highest courts in an effort to clear a backlog of cases, the Irish Independent has reported.
The Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeal will hold sessions during September for the first time ever.
According to the Irish Independent the Courts Service said that, "owing to the exceptional circumstances of long delays", Chief Justice Susan Denham had organised the September sittings in both courts in conjunction with the President of the High Court, Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns.
The news follows an announcement earlier this year when the High Court said it would hold additional sittings in September.
