Two Arrested In Former Detective Murder Investigation

Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of former garda detective John Kerins in Co Cavan last year.

Mr Kerins, 49, was found with gunshot wounds in his home in November 2012.

According to RTÉ, two men, both in their 30s, were arrested in the Bailieborough area of Co Cavan and are being questioned at Carrickmacross Garda Station, Co Monaghan.

It is also reported that a number of searches are underway in the area.

Body Found And Man Arrested In Co Cavan
Gardaí in Co Cavan have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the discovery of a body in Cootehill in the early hours of this morning. According to gardaí, the body of a man, believed to be aged in his early 30s, was discovered at a house in Lodge View at around 1.05am.

Two Arrested Following Supermarket Raid
Two men have been arrested following a raid at a supermarket in the Clarehall area in Dublin last night. At around 10.30pm, two men armed with a knife entered the premises on the Malahide Road and threatened two members of staff, before tying them up and attacking them. The pair then left the scene with a sum of cash.

Customs Seize 120,000 Illegal Cigarettes
Cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €57,000 have been seized by customs officers at Cork Airport. Some 120,000 Marlboro cigarettes were discovered in 12 suitcases that had arrived on a flight from Wroclaw, Poland. Garda arrested two men, understood to be Polish nationals, in connection with the find.
