Bus Driver Saves Children From Burning Coach
A bus driver has saved 44 children after his coach caught fire just outside the Jack lynch Tunnel on the outskirts of Cork city.
The Irish Independent spoke to bus driver Ger Mackey, who said they children were evacuated from the bus so quickly most didn’t even realise there was a fire until they had been moved a safe distance away and looked back to see the smoke.
It was reported that Mr Mackey noticed smoke inside the bus, immediately pulling over and getting all children and teachers out of the bus.
He was quoted the Independent as saying: "All that mattered was that no one was hurt. That was the only thing I was concerned about as I stopped the bus and opened the emergency doors to get everyone out. The teachers helped and we had everyone off the bus in a matter of seconds," he said.

Investigation Launches Into Dublin Bus Fire
An investigation has been launched into a fire on a Dublin Bus. The Fire Brigade was called to the out of service bus after it caught fire at about 13:00 in the Harold's Cross area. There were no passengers on board the bus at the time and the driver escaped uninjured. It is not yet known what caused the fire.
