Staff Transfer Disagreements Delay New Child Protection Agency
A row over the transfer of psychologists has caused a further delay in the establishment of a new single child welfare and protection agency, the Irish Times has reported.
In 2012, legislation was proposed for the new Child and Family Support Agency but as yet no further action has been taken, which in part has been blamed on disagreements over staff transfers.
The legislation was considered a cornerstone of the Government’s plans to improve services for children.
It is understood that the agency is not expected to be set up until 2014 at the earliest.
