41-Year-Old Pepper Sprayed For Resisting Arrest

A member of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (IPAV) was pepper sprayed by garda when he resisted arrest for disrupting an auction, the Irish Independent have reported.

In an incident in December last year, 41-year-old Shane O’Neill, of Macroom, Co Cork, disrupted an auction claiming a number of bids he made "were not honoured".

It is understood that Mr Macroom’s bids were ignored as they were considered "unrealistic".

Mr Macroom admitted obstructing a garda officer in the course of an arrest.

The case was adjourned until July 31.
