Two Die In Separate Cork Drowning Incidents

A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man have died in separate drowning incidents in Co Cork over the weekend.

A 17-year-old got into difficulties while swimming in the River Blackwater in north Cork, at an area known as Lisheen Bridge.

He was taken to Kerry General hospital by air ambulance but died in the early hours of Monday morning.

A 21-year-old drowned while simming in the River Lee, Ballincollig, Co Cork.

It is understood that garda were called to an incident at Inniscarra around 1am and five people were arrested in relation to disturbances at the scene.

Man Arrested Over The Murder Of Mikolaj Wilk
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Mikolaj Wilk in County Cork last June. The suspect, aged in his 30s, has been detained at Togher Garda Station. 35-year-old Mr Wilk, who was originally from Poland, died when he was attacked by a gang at his home in Ballingcollig.

Search For Missing Man Resumes
The search for a man missing following a drowning incident in west Cork has resumed. Two people's bodies were recovered during the search close to the Beacon at Baltimore Harbour on Tuesday evening. The victims have been named as Barry Ryan and Niamh O'Connor.

Thieves Target GAA Car Parks
Cars parked at GAA clubs seem to have become the new target, following a number of smash-and-grab robberies on cars parked at cemeteries earlier this year. It is understood that there have been more than 20 incidents across the country since mid-August, with cars targeted at GAA club car parks in Cork, Tipperary, Waterford and Limerick.

Two men Die In Separate Drowning Accidents
Two men died in separate drowning incidents on Monday. A 55-year-old Polish national, who had been living in Ireland for a number of years, died after being hit by a freak wave on a fishing trip with friends. The man, who was married and had been living in Co Kildare, drowned when he fell off rocks into the sea at Mullaghmore Head, Co Sligo.

Pair Charged Over Theft & Fraud In Cork City
Two men have been charged in relation to the theft of a van and a number of fraud incidents in Cork city. The charges, issued at Cork City District Court on Thursday 07 November, relate to an incident on Wednesday 06 September.
