Safety Of Roscommon Psychiatric Unit Questioned

Questions have been raised about staffing levels at Roscommon County Hospital following the death of a 38-year-old patient of the hospitals psychiatric unit.

Following a number of assaults on staff in the past three weeks, the Psychiatric Nurses Association has described the unit as unsafe.

The HSE have now been asked by ministers for a report regarding the number of occasions garda have been called to the unit, and for reassurances over the level of staffing.
