Man Dies In Co Cavan Lake

A man has died after he got into difficulties while swimming in a lake in Co Cavan.

He had been swimming with friends at Knocknagarton lake at approximately 10pm on Monday.

His body was recovered and was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Body Recovered From Lake In Co Cavan
Gardaí in Co Cavan are still trying to identify a body recovered from a lake on Saturday. The body was recovered from Lough Ramor, close to Virginia, which has been the site of ongoing searches for missing 37-year-old Joseph Whelan who has been missing for two weeks.

€6.5m To Be Spent On New Off-Road Cycle Route
A total of €6.5m is to be spent on the development of three new off-road cycling routes in Co Kerry, Galway and Waterford. The development will see the former Great Southern Railway line on the Ring of Kerry converted into a 26km cycleway between Glenbeigh and Renard.
