Farmer Jailed For Life For Murdering Law Student

A farmer from Co Clare has been jailed for life after he brutally murdered a student.

Joe Heffernan, 33, of Cappagh Beg, pleaded not guilty to murdering Eoin Ryan, 21, on his farm in June 2011.

A majority of jurors found him guilty.

The law student was beaten to death and died of severe head injuries.

His body was found in a barrel on Heffernan's farm.

A 49-year-old man has this morning been found guilty at the Central Criminal Court of murdering his ex-girlfriend. Milhalache Marian, who is originally from Romania, pleaded not guilty to murdering 35-year-old Loradena Pricajan on 28 January, last year.
