St Patrick's Institution To Be Closed
St Patrick's Institution is to close with all staff and prisoners being moved to different institutions in the next six months, minister for justice Alan Shatter has announced.
It is understood that all 17-year-old inmates will initially be moved to a dedicated unit in Wheatfield Prison. This is ahead of a pending development of new facilities in Oberstown.
The closure of St Patrick's follows a recommendation by the Inspector of Prisons.

Gardai in Mohill are renewing their appeal in seeking the public's help in locating Leitrim man Patrick Heeran who is missing from Aughavas, Co. Leitrim since early in October 2011. Patrick, 48, was last seen in Mohill, Co Leitrim at 4.20pm on 3rd October 2011. Patrick is 5'9" in height and of stocky build with fair hair.

Jury Find Bin Lorry Driver Not Guilty
A driver charged with dangerous driving for causing the death of a toddler has been found not guilty. Alex McDaid, 60, from Bromany, denied the charge in relation to the death of three-year-old Patrick McDonagh which happened outside his home at Ballymacool in February 2010.

Police investigating the Real IRA murders of two soldiers at an Antrim Army base in March have arrested a 37-year-old man. As a leading republican already accused of the shock killings continues a separate bid to be freed on bail, the PSNI arrested another man in Bellaghy today (Wednesday).

Nurses At St Patrick's Hospital Vote For Industrial Action
Psychiatric nurses at St Patrick's Hospital in Dublin have voted in favour of industrial action. The dispute is in relation to the unilateral closure of the facility's defined benefit pension scheme. Strike action will begin on Wednesday, 24 May.
