Eight Courthouses To Close
Eight courthouses in six different counties are to be closed, in an effort to increase day-to-day savings and ensure any investment is focused to courts with "justifiable case-loads".
The courthouses to be closed are in Birr, Edenderry, Swinford, Ballyhaunis, Kells, Kinsale, Baltinglass and Clones.
All eight are to be closed before the end of the year, with all business transferred to alternative venues.
Following a review, some 40 courthouses where considered for closure. A decision on the future of Skibbereen Courthouse, Co Cork, will be expected in the autumn.
