Good Weather Sees 80% Of Turf Harvest Already Collected
The good weather has helped Bord na Móna harvest 80% of its target turf yield for the year.
It is in contrast to last year, when jobs were at risk following a poor harvest. This years harvest is said to have restored stability for some 2,000 workers.
A new fire vigilance project has also been established in the hopes of avoiding bog fires during the warm weather.
Some 60 office-based voluntary staff will monitor bogs all over the midlands.
