New Agency To Take On Child Protection From HSE

A new agency will be established to take over control of child protection services.

The Child and Family Agency will take responsibility from the Health Service Executive (HSE), with some 4,000 staff being added to the new body.

The move follows long running criticism of the HSE and its handling of child protection services.

Concerns have been raised over key professionals not moving over to the new agency, but the government have said that discussions over staff transfers are ongoing.
