Man Continues Anti-Property Tax Hunger Strike

A man has been hunger strike for 22 days outside Leinster House in protest over the property tax.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said he would meet with Co Meath man Tony Rochford, who it is cliamed has lost 29lbs since his protest began.

The Taoiseach was responding to Independent TD John Halligan, who questioned Kenny over Mr Rochford's ongoing protest.

It is understood that Mr Rochford's family took him home yesterday for medical treatment, but that he is determined to continue.

Mr Kenny said: "Hopefully we can at least have this explained in a way that the man does not have to be on hunger strike outside the gates of the Irish parliament."

Man Ends Water Charges Hunger Strike
A man in Cork has ended his hunger strike protest over water charges, saying he thinks he "got (his) point across". 28-year-old Gary Coleman began his hunger strike at 17:00 on Monday at the front of Cork City Hall in protest against water charges, which he said are an "unjust tax on people".

GAA Ground's 'Use By SF' Slammed
There's a row developing over the use of a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ground to host a Sinn Féin-sponsored event. The SDLP Deputy Leader Alasdair McDonnell has called on the GAA to investigate why Sinn Féin was allowed to use its facilities to stage the hunger strike commemoration rally.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.
