TD Apologises For Pulling Female TD Onto Lap During Debate
A Fine Gael TD has apologised for pulling a female colleague onto his lap during the abortion bill debate in the Dáil.
Cork TD Tom Barry said in a statement: "What I did last night was disrespectful and inappropriate. I have apologised to Aine Collins and she graciously and immediately accepted my apology.
"No excuses, I just shouldn't have done it."
The incident was caught on camera as TDs gathered for the first vote on the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill at around 02:40.

A Government bill proposing a ban stag hunting could be facing a tight vote tonight as it faces opposition from Fianna Fail party members and pressure groups. The bill is being championed by the Environment Minister and Green Party leader, John Gormley, who has sought to appease much of the opposition with slight amendments to the legislation.
