High Court Grant Injunction To Stop Woman Travelling For Termination

The High Court has heard a petition from a man, who claims his pregnant girlfriend is being forced by her family to travel to the Ek for an abortion.

It is reported that the man wants injunctions to prevent his partner from having a termination, and to prevent her leaving Ireland until it is ascertained if she is acting under her own free will.

The couple are foreign nationals residing in Ireland, they cannot be named for legal reasons.

RTÉ have reported that the man affidavit states that his girlfriend is both, "happy to be pregnant", and ""never expressed any desire to have an abortion", but goes on to claim that the woman's family are unhappy she is having a child with a "non-white male".

It is understood the woman was booked to undergo a procedure tomorrow (Thursday).

The court granted permission to serve notice of proceedings, which is aimed at stopping her leaving until it is determined if she is acting of her own free will.
