Four Engines Tackle Howth Gorse Fires

Gorse fires on the west side of Howth were "most likely" to have been started maliciously.

Four Dublin fire brigade units are on site tackling the fires, which were reported by pilots flying over Howth from Dublin Airport.

It is understood that the fires are not thought to be of any danger to people or property and that the fire service have contained them.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.

Two Swimmers Rescued By Coastguard
The Irish Coast Guard has saved two people after they were stranded on the cliffs at Balscadden, Howth Head. An emergency call was received by the Irish Coast Guard about two men who had been swimming were caught by the current, however the pair managed to reach rocks nearby. A tourist raised the alarm after hearing the men shouting for help.

DFB Attend Two Dublin City Fires On Thursday Morning
Four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) were called to an apartment complex in Tallaght following reports of a fire at about 3am on Thursday. Eight people were evacuated from Greenhill Court Apartments, two residents had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Two Arrested Over Aggravated Burglary
Two men have been arrested over an aggravated burglary in Dublin. The incident happened at a property in Casana View, Howth, on 13 December 2013. On that morning, four men, one of whom was armed with a nail bar, entered the house where a woman in her 40s and her eight-year-old daughter were inside.

Council Issues Water Warning
Dublin City Council and the HSE have warned residents and businesses across north Dublin not to use their water for drinking or cooking purposes until further notice. From the Howth Road to Castle Avenue and from the Howth Rd at Collins Avenue to Clontarf Rd. Dublin City Council have already mobilized water tankers in the area.

Howth Head Rescue Drama Revealed
It has emerged that seven people nearly became St Patrick's Day victims, as they had to be rescued at Howth Head on Wednesday night after becoming stranded by an incoming tide. The five men and two women were celebrating on a small beach in the vicinity of the Bailey lighthouse in Co Dublin when they became trapped.
