Bord na Móna Propose New Reservoir In Co Laois
A 1,200-acre site near Portailington, Co Laois, could become a new water reservoir, storing a three-month supply of rain water.
Bord na Móna say they are ready to apply for planning permission for the site, which would meet demands in the eastern region, according to RTÉ.
Speaking at Bord na Móna's annual general meeting in Dublin, Chief Executive Gabriel D'Arcy said there is a need to proceed as soon as possible.

The Government has been urged to outline its strategic plan for the development of Bord na Móna over the coming years. Fianna Fáil TD for Offaly, Barry Cowen, called for the introduction of a support mechanism to support the growth of the biomass industry in order to create new opportunities for Bord na Móna.

Workers at Bord na Móna have voted to accept new proposals from the company on pay and working conditions. More than 300 employees at four Bord na Móna sites in the midlands agreed to restructure peat production systems at a mass meeting in Tullamore last night.
