Man Remanded In Custody For Wasting Garda Time Over Alleged Kidnapping
A 68-year-old property developer has been charged with wasting Garda time, after falsely claiming to have been abducted for eight months.
Kevin McGeever was arrested on Tuesday evening at his home in Clontarf, Dublin and taken to Gort in Galway, where the investigation into his alleged disappearance has been based.
Appearing before Strokestown District Court in Co Roscommon Mr McGeever was charged under sections 12 (a) and 12 (b) of the Criminal Justice Act 1976, relating to wasting garda time on dates between January 29th and February 28 this year.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court on Friday.

A man has died from knife wounds after an incident in a villiage in Tipperary last night. The male victim, who was in his late 20's, was fatally stabbed in the street outside his house following an altercation. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood the victim man was Irish and was from the area.
