Father Charged With Sons Murders

The father of two boys found dead in the boot of his crashed car has been charged with their murders.

Sanjeev Chada was officially charged with the murders of Eoghan (10) and Ruairi (5) at a special sitting of Swinford District Court, four days after a Child Rescue Ireland Alert was issued when they failed to arrive at a bowling alley.

Mr Chada was granted legal aid following an application made by his solicitor.

He was remanded in custody to appear again today (Friday) at Harristown District Court.

Menawhile, the funerals of Eoghan and Ruairi id due to take place today at St Lazarian's Church in Ballinkillen.

Teachers Unions To Ballot Members Over Junior Cert Reforms

On-Duty Firefighter Arrested On Suspicion Of Drink Driving
A fireman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving while on duty behind the wheel of a fire engine. The man was driving a fire truck on the Callan Road, Kilkenny over the weekend and approached a checkpoint. It is believed he was returning from an emergency incident and failed a breath test. He was issued a fixed charged penalty notice.

Shoppers Fly North For The Winter

A survey by the National Consumer Council (NCC) has shown the disparity between the Republic's prices and that of the North is steadily growing, prompting shoppers to cross the border for their groceries.
