Two men were killed and two others injured in a car crash in Co Donegal in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident, involving one car, happened at around 03:10 at Kinnegar Bridge on the Rathmullan to Portsalon Road.

It is understood that the car struck a tree and a wall and that the vehicle was travelling from a festival in Rathmullan.

Garda believe the two men were the back seat passengers in the car at the time of the crash.

The two injured men were airlifted to Altnagelvin Hosiptal in L'Derry, due to Letterkenny's emergency unit being closed after flooding.

Their condition is described as stable.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses or anyone who was on the Rathmullan to Portsalon Road between 2.30am and 3.30am to contact them at Milford Garda Station on 074 9153048.
