Waterford City Balcony Body Named

The body of a man found on the balcony of an apartment in Waterford city has been named as Damian Richards.

Richards (42), a hairdresser and "well-known local character", was found slumped over the balcony of his apartment at Nore House, Canada Square, just before 9am on Tuesday morning, according to the Irish Independent.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Tuesday afternoon but no results have yet been published. It is understood however, that Mr Richards death is believed to have been a tragic accident.

Body Found On Balcony In Waterford City
Garda in Waterford are appealing for information following the discovery of a body at an apartment in the city this morning at around 08:15am. It is understood that the body was found on the balcony of a flat on Canada Square. The scene has been sealed and an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Memorial Service Held At UCD For Berkeley Victims
A memorial service has been held at University College Dublin for the six students that died when a balcony collapsed at an apartment complex in Berkeley, California, earlier this week. Three of the students were studying at UCD; Eimear Walsh and Lorcán Miller were studying medicine, and Niccolai Schuster was studying history and politics.

Hundreds of people attended a candlelit vigil in Berkeley, California, to pay their respects after six people died when a balcony collapsed. Five Irish students died in the incident, with seven more remaining in hospital – two of which are said to be in a serious condition.

Body Found At Cork Apartment Still Unidentified
A body discovered at an apartment block in Cork city centre on Monday evening has still not been identified. A post mortem on the mans body is to be carried out Cork University Hospital, as a forensic examination of the scene at the City Garden apartment complex on North Main Street began at 12:00 on Tuesday.
