Three-Year-Old Boy Critical After Traffic Accident

A young child was airlifted from west Cork to Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin, after being critically injured in a traffic accident at around 7pm on Thursday.

According to gardaí the three-year-old bou was hit by a car outside Barryroe, on the Bandon Road and suffered multiple injuries.

It is understood that paramedics were on the scene within minutes and made the decision to request the transfer with the Irish Coast Guard's Shannon-based helicopter.

Garda Appeal Over Fatal Road Traffic Accident
An investigation has been launched into a fatal road traffic accident in Clonlee, Kinnity, Co Offaly. A man in his early 20s was fatally injured when the jeep he was driving left the road at about 02:30 on Sunday, 18 October. The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle. A post-mortem is due to take place at Tullamore Regional Hospital.

Witness Appeal After Fatal Road Traffic Accident In Ballybofey
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic accident on the main Letterkenny to Sligo Road in Ballybofey, Donegal. A female driver, aged in her late 20s, was fatally injured when her car collided with a truck at about 7am on Friday morning. The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Examination.

Gardaí Motorcycle Officers Injured In Collision
Two gardaí motorcycle officers are being treated in hospital after being involved in a collision in Co Sligo. It is understood that the officers were responding to a road traffic accident on the Manorhamilton Road when they were involved in a collision. No details of how the crash happened have been released.

Elderly Pedestrian Dies In Road Traffic Accident
A pedestrian has been killed following a road traffic accident at around 11:50 today at Ursula’s Terrace in Waterford. Gardai are investigating the collision which involved an elderly male pedestrian and a car. The road is currently closed pending a Garda forensic examination.

Bridge Fails To Navigate Troubled Water
Bad weather has held back plans to bring the Samuel Beckett Bridge on the latest stage of its journey. The advanced Bridge, which will span the Liffey will now be delayed after an abandoned attempt to ferry the Bridge to its mount at 2am this morning because of high winds. A fresh attempt will be made at high tide tomorrow morning.
