Man Jailed For Life For Shane Geoghegan Murder

John Dundon has been found guilty of the murder Shane Geoghegan from Limerick.

Dundon, 31, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for ordering the killing that led to Mr Geoghegan being shot five times as he walked home almost five years ago.

The gunman, Barry Doyle, was jailed for life in February 2012.

The family of Mr Geoghegan did not give victim impact evidence after the Special Criminal Court handed its verdict.

The Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan has welcomed the Court result with the conviction of John Dundon for the murder of Shane Geoghegan. Commissioner Callinan said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Geoghegan family and we are aware of how difficult a day this is for them all.

Second Man Charged With Geoghegan Murder
A 29-year-old Limerick man has appeared at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin, the second person to be charged with the murder of Shane Geoghegan in 2008.

Woman Arrested In Shane Murder Probe
Gardai investigating the murder of Shane Geoghegan have released seven of the people they were questioning. They were freed overnight without charge, but investigations are continuing with eight people remaining in custody today.
