Restored Philip Lynott Statue Is Unveiled

The reinstated Philip Parris Lynott statue on Dublin's Harry Street has been unveiled.

The much loved artwork of the Thin Lizzy star, created by artist Paul Daly, was originally unveiled in 2005 and has become one of the city's most popular public sculptures with fans coming from far and wide to see it.

The statue suffered severe damage in May of this year, when it was pushed over, and had to be removed for repair.

The repair work was skilfully carried out at CAST Bronze Foundry and the statue has now been returned to its original place on Harry Street, just off Grafton Street.

The unveiling took place in the company of special guest Ms Philomena Lynott, mother of Philip, and Councillor Mary Freehill, representing Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn.

Councillor Freehill said: "It gives me great pleasure to join with Philip's mother, Philomena, in the unveiling of the fully restored statue of Philip today. Everyone was disappointed when the statue was damaged and Dublin City Council had to remove it for repair. Now it is back in its rightful place here in the centre of Dublin on Harry Street. The Boy Back is Back in Town!"
