Tipperary Peace Prize For Pakistani Schoolgirl Shot By Taliban

The Tipperary Peace Prize, awarded annually to recognise courage and determination, is to be presented to Malala Yousafzai, a student shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan.

16-year-old Malala was ambushed on a school bus last October by the Taliban. It is believed she was targeted as she had been openly campaigning for female education.

The Tipperary Peace Convention will award Malala the prize in recognition of her courage and determination in the wake of the attack.

Malala now attends school in Birmingham in the UK after she was transferred to the city for life-saving surgery following the attack.
